Liposuction: the most powerful tool in plastic surgery.

This year, liposuction is celebrating its 25th anniversary in Brazil. In 1980 the first liposuctions in Brazil were performed by Dr. Pimentel in Rio de Janeiro and ever since the technique spread out all over the country, it was dynamite.
Today, even in small inland cities it is very well performed by most surgeons.
However, it is important to take a few precautions for a successful surgery. “What remains is more important than what is removed”, warns Dr. Raul Gonzalez, one of the great liposuction specialists; it is pointless to get excited about the so-called “week-end mini-liposuctions” since one may be missing a good opportunity to achieve true body harmony by aspirating here and there and leaving behind extremely important areas, adds Dr. Gonzalez.
One of the important advances of liposuction was the hydro-liposuction because the injected fluids help to dissolve fat and more easily remove the adipose tissue, in addition to dramatically reducing bleeding which enables one to aspirate more significant amounts than we could in the past. It is important to respect the limits suggested by the Brazilian Plastic Surgery Society (7% of the body weight) but in overweight patients it is easier to aspirate the fat and one can slightly exceed such percentage and still be on the safe side, says Dr. Gonzalez.

Buttocks + liposuction

“One could say that this is the paramount technique for body reshaping, and that it is most suitable for those people whose butt is not perky and shapely. Fat grafting can help as well, says Dr. Gonzalez. A substantial amount of fat can be injected in the butt but patients should be aware that part of it will be absorbed and the results may not always be what they expect. Even so, fat grafting is a valuable procedure often performed worldwide.

Bioplasty:

It may be disappointing. I contraindicate the injection of large amounts of bioplasty in the gluteal area, since the product lacks formal approval of the Brazilian Sanitary Authority and also because there is no possible way of achieving a projection that would equal the 500-600ml of an implant, says Dr. Gonzalez, one of the major specialists in gluteal implant. Also, only the future will tell how the body would react to the injection of such a large amount of the material.

Yes, the Thai, the Polynesian, the Chinese, all have an eye on Brazilian butt projecting techniques which are the safest and more efficient nowadays. And Brazil, once again is in the forefront.
